KERR
This drawing was one of the first pieces where I grasped the meaning of telling a story behind an art piece and my love for mixed media work. I wanted to conjoin an object with a person I sketched the drawing from a photograph that I took. So, I took a photo of my sister, Kerry, taking a photo. This image is a reflection of who she is: reflective, observant, and artistic.
I sketched the outline features of the objects, then honed in on the details with pencil, charcoal, Sharpie, and pen.The combination of texture of these different tools, creates variety and depth, dancing together to reflect my sister’s complex character.
I chose to work with monotone colors because I didn’t want to take the attention away from the person and object of the piece.
